Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The ICS Development service line works to improve connections between development and London’s utility infrastructure networks. A key priority of the development service is to accelerate affordable housing delivery across London by addressing the strategic infrastructure challenges that can stall development. Building strong relationships with developers and utilities is a critical part of the development service’s role in unlocking strategic sites, identifying new areas of work, and supporting regulatory change.
Your focus will be on progressing strategic solutions to accelerate utility connections for development, and support the delivery of utility infrastructure in high-growth areas. You will work with teams across the GLA’s to support better alignment and delivery of development and utility infrastructure. This will also involve working closely with developers, utilities, London boroughs, Transport for London, regulators and business community representatives to understand their technical challenges and thinking creatively to resolve them.
The right candidate will be able to engage with technically complex issues, articulating concepts and solutions to a wide range of audiences. You will feel confident in taking responsibility for a set of projects and their outcomes. Although a technical background is not expected, an ideal candidate would have a degree or work experience related to infrastructure. The role would benefit from someone who proactively looks for opportunities to champion sustainability and better ways of working.
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds. The key in your application is to demonstrate how your experience and skills are relevant and/or transferrable to the position.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE YOU SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCE OF OR KNOWLEDGE OF ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING:

Engineering (preference for civil)
Project/ programme management
Development management/ capital delivery
Architecture/ Urban design
Utilities
Town planning
Well-developed communication skills and experience in convening partners
A track record of working in partnership with multi-stakeholder groups to deliver shared goals
