This is an exciting opportunity to join the service for adults who wish to undertake diagnostic assessment and/or treatment for Neurodevelopmental conditions, namely ADHD, Autism and Tourette’s. We are looking for an experienced Principal psychologist with a background in neurodevelopmental conditions and/or Mental Health to join our team. This service is a multi- modality, applied psychology-led service in Northamptonshire. The AAATT service offers specialist diagnostic assessment and clinical treatments and interventions, and also promotes understanding around neurodevelopmental approaches in the wider service and across mental health pathways.
There are also good opportunities for people wishing to work part-time or across a couple of different specialties in the Trust.
We are looking for suitably qualified clinicians – ideally with some specialist clinical experience in the field of diagnostics, as well as some experience in working with complex clinical presentations in Adult Mental Health. Potential applicants should also be experienced in providing supervision.
Equally important is the ability to develop innovative practice and play a lead role in a the service You would need to contribute to the vision for this service and work closely with partners in primary and secondary care. This will require you to exercise collaborative leadership skills within the Team and to promote the service externally. We are looking for an innovative and resilient clinician with evidenced training who can operate with confidence and credibility to play a key role in the service. Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate successfully are essential. You will contribute to developing and monitoring the clinical outcomes and impact of the service and will have a flexible approach to changing patterns of service delivery as needed.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
There are a significant number of psychologists employed within the Trust working across different specialties and there are excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds who are under-represented in service delivery.
We want our workforce to represent the diversity of the people and communities we work with. Studies show that people from minoritised ethnic groups and women are less likely to apply if they don’t meet every requirement. You could still be the right person for the job – if you’re excited about this role, we want to hear from you.
We’re happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that you need to be successful. We do everything we can to accommodate flexible working, including compressed or part-time hours, job shares and other arrangements. Please let us know in your application or at any stage of the process if you would like to explore these options.
The successful applicant(s) would receive professional support and be professionally and clinically accountable to the Consultant Clinical Psychologist Service Lead for the AAATT service. Northamptonshire is a pleasant area with a mix of rural and urban locations and is within easy distance of other key locations in the Midlands with excellent rail and road links.
