Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a principal psychologist, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Psychologists primarily work within the women’s service but also across wards, providing a varied and diverse role.
  • The role involves using structured risk assessment measures and delivering one-to-one and group interventions addressing risks such as sexual and violent offending, fire-setting, substance misuse, and anger management.
  • Implementation of specialist psychological interventions in line with NICE and best practice guidelines is required.
  • Therapeutic approaches used include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and EMDR.

You can find additional information in the attached job description.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.
The role requires a confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and at least two other therapeutic modalities, including training in an intervention suitable for working with specific, location-relevant disorders. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding and application of therapy principles, with a willingness to pursue further training if needed. Experience working with complex clients and delivering high-level interventions is essential, along with training in clinical supervision.
For more information about the role, you can email Farahgigani@priorygroup.com

We want you to succeed at Priory and thrive in your role. You will be well supported with regular career conversations. We also offer full training and numerous pathways into leadership and qualified clinical positions to help you shape your career with us.
