The BAE Systems Combat Mission Systems (CMS) site in York, Pennsylvania is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer in support of 2nd Shift.
In this role as a Principal Quality Engineer, you will develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for ensuring requirements are met through multiple functional areas of the ACV vehicle platform. Included will be leadership duties overseeing a team, including bargaining unit Inspectors. As this position supports on the 2nd shift, you will often be working independently in defining specific tasks and priorities to support operations quality.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Typically requires a Bachelors in a technical discipline and six (6) years related experience (i.e. Quality Assurance, Quality Control), or the overall equivalent.
  • Proven management experience to oversee and lead a team of direct and indirect reports.
  • Experience operating within ISO 9001 standard.
  • Strong background in problem solving techniques (A3, DMAIC, etc).
  • High proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and industry related database applications.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and analytical ability.
  • Ability to work and lead independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to support on the 2nd Shift. Please note that training will take place on the day shift.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • ASQ Certification preferred.
  • Experience working in a quality program in support of government contracts, preferably DoD.
  • Formal training in root cause analysis is preferred.
  • Experience implementing APQP in a low-rate, technically complex product environment is preferred.
  • Certified Weld Inspector qualification or experience
