IDMxS is seeking a candidate for a new position, Head of Research Translation - Principal Research Fellow, Outreach & Partnerships, to provide leadership for IDMxS’ broader translational and innovation roadmap as a key for IDMxS’ integrated industry-oriented R&D programs and applications. The role is to include strategic leadership in identifying local and global industry needs as well as formulating and implementing translational plans to efficiently transfer scientific and technology intellectual property and know-how to end users and strategic collaborators.
The candidate is expected to deliver on the challenging task of translating IDMxS research findings to the market by identifying the marketability of IDMXS innovations and opportunities for attracting investments toward the development of IP-based startups. The candidate will play an important role in assembling the internal IP portfolio and organising and advising local and international activities and networks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify market-readiness of IDMxS inventions
• Coordinate the preparation of marketing materials for distribution and dissemination
• Research local and global industry trends and needs
• Develop Communications Plan to promote IDMxS brand and research
• Enable IDMxS’ objective of taking research findings from Lab to market, through focused R&D, enabling investment, and the development of IP based startups
• Work with senior management to develop and nurture an IDMxS culture based on the translation of science into impactful outputs in healthcare and public health for Singapore and beyond
• Establish key industry contacts
• Negotiate collaboration agreements and any other legal requirements associated with productization/ commercialization/ start-up efforts
• Be a key interface between NTU Legal Affairs, IDMxS research staff, Principal Investigators and external stakeholders and industry (both local and international)
• Lead IDMxS’ efforts in nurturing the next generation of young researchers through internships for Polytechnic students and providing the foundation to develop the skills to drive efficient collaboration between academia and industry

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree with at least 15 years of relevant work experience internationally.
• Experience in the Healthcare/life science, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry.
• A deep grasp of needs, opportunities, challenges, and trends in the biomedical industry.
• Knowledge of venture capital and investment opportunities.
• Experience in facilitating translation research.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience in working within multidisciplinary environments.
• Strong in strategic thinking and possesses an analytical mind.
• Ability to work with people of various levels and cultures, with excellent interpersonal skills.
