JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting and monitoring the overall compliance and administration of the Walgreen US, Puerto Rico and Executive Retirement Savings Plans, as well as Multi-Employer Pension Plans and Walgreens Health and Welfare Plans. Assures accurate delivery of Plan benefits and great customer service, while working with service providers and HR to resolve complex issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides more complex analytical support within the specialized area of benefits to include cost modeling, benefits/communication trend analysis, benefits utilization, consumer understanding/appreciation of benefits, disability programs, etc.
  • Analyzes and presents more complex census data in support of vendor negotiations.
  • Conducts more complex audits and reconciliation of assigned benefit programs and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develops and designs more complex benefits communications specifics to include SPDs, employee communications, vendor communications, open enrollment, etc.; and, acts as subject matter expert on benefit topics for communication staff.
  • Conducts more complex surveys and evaluates results of benefit trends in support of the Walgreens total compensation program. May present recommendation to more senior team members.
  • Engages vendors to resolve more complex benefits issues and communicates findings to affected team member. Documents process improvement opportunities for future enhancements to plan design.
  • Reviews and analyzes plan documents based upon renewals, union negotiations, or other activity which require updating of plans. Audits plan operations for compliance with plan provisions.
  • Conducts specialized new hire benefits orientation programs. Provides counsel to managers and team members on basic benefit issues. May provide counsel to managers and team members on basic benefit issues.
  • Evaluates critical vendor responses to RFPs to help determine the value and/or compliance with the RFP requirements.
  • Coaches, mentors, guides, and provides oversight to less senior Benefits Analysts.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of benefits administration; OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of benefits administration.
  • A least 2 years of experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
  • At least 2 years of experience with benefits administration policies, practices, and procedures
  • Experience with confidentiality requirements associated with the practice of human resources, in general, and benefits, specifically.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite & Teams
  • Experience with HR Information Systems (i.e. SAP/People Central) and Timekeeping systems(i.e. Kronos)
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross- functional team leadership
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, such as human resources, business administration, and accounting.
  • Master’s Degree / MBA
  • Experience with ERISA and other benefits related regulations.
  • Experience as an HR Generalist or Retirement Plans Administrator.
  • CBP Certification as granted by World at Work, or CEBS Certification as granted by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans
