QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem and/or component analysis, design and/or test.
  • Transmitter / Power Amplifier Design
  • Receiver / LNA Design
  • 8+ years of experience with electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, Microwave Office and/or Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition) and analytical tools (e.g., MATLAB).
  • 6+ years of experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, which includes yield and margin analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
  • Experience in technical / proposal writing and oral presentations.

Collins Aerospace designs, integrates, and certifies commercial avionics products for the Air Transport and Business and Regional aircraft markets.
We have an opportunity for a Principal RF Design Engineer who is eager to utilize their academic background and professional experience in RF / Microwave system theory and design to make an impact on new and legacy CNS Transceiver products. This position is within our CNS (Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance) group.
Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated, self-disciplined, and possess excellent communication skill and a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate within a multifunctional, multidiscipline team. You will also be required to demonstrate flexibility and an ability to coordinate with multiple teams, organizations, suppliers, and customers to achieve a common goal.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Design and develop transmitters and receivers.
  • Design and optimize RF circuits – this could be either chains of components (transmitter, receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams – power, digital, mechanical, etc.
  • Perform schematic capture and RF routing.
  • Provide technical support during the transition to production and support to production activities.
