SUPERVISION (INSURANCE) DEPARTMENT

The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the
services of a skilled and capable candidate to work as a Principal Risk
Analyst in our Supervision (Insurance) Department. Reporting to an
Assistant Director, the Principal Risk Analyst will be responsible for
supporting the Department’s oversight of insurance and reinsurance
entities, with a strong focus on data processing, analysis and data
modelling. This position requires expertise in handling large datasets,
extracting insights and applying analytical techniques to assess the
financial soundness of supervised entities.

THEREFORE, THE POST-HOLDER SHOULD HAVE:

  • A master’s degree in actuarial science, computer science or related
    field or equivalent qualification in insurance or data science from a

recognised institution or professional body

  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience, of which at

least three (3) years should be at a senior level working within a

regulated financial services business

  • Knowledge of both long-term and property and casualty insurance

would be an advantage

  • Proficiency in MS Office Excel, Python, R, VBA and SQL
  • Strong organisational and communication (both oral and written)

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to

detail

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBLE FOR BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Leading the collection, validation and analysis of data from
    regulatory filings, actuarial reports and financial statements to

assess the financial condition of supervised entities

  • Developing and maintaining data-driven models and analytical

tools to support risk assessment and supervisory decision-making

  • Automating data processing and reporting to improve efficiency

and accuracy in regulatory oversight

  • Conducting statistical analyses and financial modelling to identify

trends, emerging risks and market developments

  • Participating in liquidity reviews across the Bermuda insurance

industry

  • Developing and implementing data governance frameworks to

enhance data quality and integrity

  • Evaluating reinsurance transactions, solvency requirements and

capital adequacy assessments using data-driven methodologies

  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance

the use of data analytics in insurance supervision

  • Contributing to regulatory policy development by leveraging data

insights to inform supervisory strategies

  • Preparing reports, presentations and dashboards to communicate

key findings and recommendations to management and industry

stakeholders

  • Integrating data from external databases to internal dashboards and

reports

  • Providing managerial direction, leadership and supervision

to assigned direct reports in addition to providing support for
technical and administrative issues, which lead to the achievement
of Department goals
