Description

PRINCIPAL – SECONDARY

The Abbotsford School District is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Semá:th First Nation and Mathxwí First Nation. With this, we respect the longstanding relationships that Indigenous Nations have to this land, as they are the original caretakers.
We are seeking applications for future Principal positions in our Secondary schools. Those selected will be welcomed to our administrator leadership pool.

The Principal engages with students and families, provides instructional and administrative leadership, and leads the development and implementation of the school plan. This is an excellent leadership opportunity to advance our vision of equitable and inclusive secondary schools and create a co-constructed inquiry-based learning experience for students that recognizes and supports their social and emotional development.
We are seeking a resilient leader who can effectively engage staff in learning opportunities and change initiatives and has a clear personal commitment to meaningful learning experiences, equitable opportunities, and culturally safe environments. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with students, families, and staff based on sound planning and decision-making and supportive instructional leadership.

  • A member in good standing with the Teacher Regulation Branch

  • Ability to design and implement school-wide systems of intervention including planning, communication, engagement, and change management
  • Demonstrated integration of the First Peoples Principles of Learning and commitment to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
  • Knowledge of inquiry-based leadership practices that promote deep learning experiences
  • Ability to facilitate adult learning and collaboration.
  • Advanced knowledge of BC’s Policy for Student Success.
  • Demonstration of with particular attention to resilience, capacity-building, visionary leadership, decision-making, and learning leadership.
