Job Description Egis is looking for technically excellent Principal Signalling Design Engineers to join our Railways and Systems team. This is an exciting time to join us as we are growing due to recent multiple significant project wins throughout Australia and New Zealand. As a Principal Signal Design Engineer at Egis, you will lead the independent design review function, verification and independent principles verification of conventional signalling designs for projects, nationally. You will utilise your specialist knowledge in rail signalling to lead signalling designers and engineers to contribute to the successful management and delivery of projects for clients. In this role, you will: Lead a team of signal designers and signal design engineers for medium to major size projects and tenders, assuming responsibility for the management of design activities, performance requirements as well as technical and commercial responsibility of project deliverables Manage design approval on design packages, reports and management plans Design, check, independent verification and final sign off of high-level signalling documentation inclusive of feasibility studies; technical requirements; SOWs; bonding/cable plans; control tables; power calculations etc Design, check, and conclude independent verification of infrastructure assets inclusive of trackside signalling infrastructure; train detection systems; SCADA systems; vital/non-vital interlocking systems etc Provide technical advice to clients and project stakeholders and teams on interfacing operational systems Principle Testing and Simulation Testing Project reporting on performance and progress, inclusive of financial reporting Mentor and guide junior signalling engineers and project engineers Qualifications Ideally, you will have demonstrated 15 years’ experience in railway signalling with specialist knowledge of conventional signal design, RPEQ / RPEV registration and relevant QR / MTM / ARTC competencies. In addition, you will also have: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering. In lieu of a Washington Accord recognised 4-year degree, current IRSE license accepted Accreditation from Engineers Australia and membership with IRSE. CPENG highly desired RPEQ / RPEV registration highly desired or ability to obtain. QR / MTM / ARTC competencies Strong technical knowledge of conventional signal design principles, ETCS and whole of life project management experience In depth knowledge of all systems that interface to signalling such as, signalling interfaces, power, communications, track and civil, etc Ability to people lead and/or lead a project team to successfully deliver to meet or exceed client expectations Excellent understanding of document and design control processes Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving abilities Strong computer, software and systems literacy Excellent client relationship management skill as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills Additional Information We are open to considering this role on a full-time, part-time or job-share basis.
