As a Principal Software Engineer in our Automation and Optimisation team, part of the broader Identity Engineering function, you will report to the COE Lead and play a strategic role in shaping the direction of our automation initiatives and platform architecture. You will lead the design and development of complex, scalable solutions across the full software engineering lifecycle, working with technologies such as SailPoint, CyberArk, and PingID. Your work will directly influence the security, performance, and reliability of our identity services, while aligning with broader organisational goals. Our Principal Software Engineers are hands-on technical subject-matter experts, accountable for significant portions of large, end-to-end platforms. While you won’t have direct reports, you will guide and mentor engineers across the crew, fostering the development of elegant, well-tested, and maintainable code and software solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, champion engineering best practices, and drive continuous improvement across our platforms and processes. Roles & Responsibilities: - Can design innovative solutions to solve complicated problems as part of a cross-functional squad. Have led major end-to-end enterprise solutions including discovery, strategy, design, product, development, and deploy. Imbue a true DevSecOps mindset and approach. You build it, you secure it, you test it, and you run it. Ensure our technical approach is sound, fit for purpose, and well architected. Support deployments across our Cloud (i.e. AWS, Azure, GCP) environments through our continuous delivery pipelines. Promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation, while contributing to governance, standards, and best practices. Act and lead as the technical subject-matter expert for all engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to your chapter via workshops and guilds. Essential Skills: - We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to possess knowledge of all, but experience or exposure with some, or their equivalents, will set you up for success in this team. Expert in SDLC and Agile methods with broader experience around architecture, design, implementation, deployment, integration, and technology transformations. 15 + years of relevant IT experience Front End Technology: React-based, JavaScript Frameworks (ReactJs. Angular) Software: Microservices, Databases, Event Streaming and Serverless Frameworks. Coding Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript. DevSecOps: CI/CD tools (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity, Synk, Sonarqube, Octopus). Network: – Firewall, network segmentation, Infrastructure as code, API gateways Iac: Terraform, Cloudformation Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes.
