Description
About us The Mobility House (TMH) is shaping the zero emissions future of energy and mobility. Our resilient charging technology makes EV charging reliable and flexible, and provides drivers the freedom of zero emissions, zero cost charging. We integrate flexible charging with energy systems to stabilize the electrical grid and free it from fossil fuels. Across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America, The Mobility House currently manages more than 2,500 EV fleet charging facilities, charges hundreds of thousands of electric vehicles, and trades power from more than 100 MWh of energy storage. TMH has more than 200 employees across its operations in California, Montreal, Munich, Paris, Zurich, and Singapore. About the role TMH seeks a hands-on technical leader to own engineering velocity and product quality for our ChargePilot edge devices and the corresponding cloud infrastructure. You will set a pragmatic technical vision, write production code, mentor developers, and partner with Product to deliver fast, stable releases while minimizing tech debt. This is a player/coach role: you’ll lead architecture and process, jump into code reviews and incident response, and systematically improve our CI/CD, test coverage, and reliability. Responsibilities Define and drive a coherent technical roadmap aligned with Product strategy; make build/buy/deprecate decisions to control complexity and cost-efficiency Own development velocity and quality: establish coding standards, testing strategy, CI/CD, and release practices with clear SLAs/SLOs Lead architecture/design reviews; de-risk initiatives through RFCs, spikes, and measurable milestones Write production-grade code (e.g., core services, performance fixes, developer tooling) ~30–50% of your time Mentor and level-up engineers in your function as a line manager for the tech team; institute feedback loops, pairing, and growth plans Champion observability, security, and reliability as well as compliance: logging/metrics/tracing, threat modeling, incident playbooks, postmortems Partner with Product on scope, sequencing, and trade-offs; ensure ticket quality and tight feedback cycles Improve data practices: schemas, migrations, performance, and privacy-by-design Support hiring, onboarding, and vendor/tool selection; manage engineering budget levers tied to throughput Participate in developer oversight, performance management, and discipline 8+ years building production software, including 3+ in a technical leadership role (team/tech lead, staff/principal, or head of eng) You are a conflict mediator, a coach and a team player with experience in leading and growing teams Hands-on expertise with AWS, along with most of the TMH tech stack: Node.js, Typescript, Python, Rust Strong coding ability in at least two TMH languages, plus fluency with modern dev tooling (Git, CI/CD, containers, IaC) Proven track record shipping complex services at pace with high reliability (cloud-native, APIs, data pipelines, or similar) Deep experience with testing strategies (unit/integration/e2e), code review discipline, and continuous delivery Demonstrated architectural judgment and ability to pay down tech debt without stalling delivery Clear communicator who partners effectively with Product, Design, and GTM Resident of Quebec Bonus points Experience in energy, mobility, IoT, or other real-time, data-heavy domains Prior responsibility for SLOs/operational readiness at scale (on-call, incident management, postmortems) Background in data modeling, event-driven architectures, or stream processing Built internal platforms or developer experience tooling that measurably improved throughput Resident of Montreal, able to join us weekly at our Mile-end office Competitive compensation, including $200k+ salary, bonuses and stock options, 22 days PTO, health benefits and more (offer details contingent on skills, qualifications, experience, and location) Growth opportunity – exposure to cutting-edge projects, international partners, and senior leaders Team building – company-wide retreat 2x a year + annual team off-sites Open feedback culture – we want to grow as people and help each other do the same Learning opportunities – this is a burgeoning industry; you’ll gain new knowledge and skills every day Diversity – our small, multi-cultural team is passionate about The Mobility House’s mission If you're passionate about driving the future of emissions-free transportation, apply now to join our team! All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
