Create your best future and join Westpac as a Principal Cloud Solutions Engineer GCP What’s the role? You’ll be at the centre of Westpac’s cloud, AI and digital transformation, designing and building enterprise solutions on Google Cloud Platform that shape how the bank uses technology at scale. Working within GroupTech, you’ll act as a trusted internal consultant across Institutional Banking, Business Banking and Consumer Banking. You’ll advise teams on GCP strategy, influence architecture decisions and lead modernisation initiatives across cloud platforms, artificial intelligence and machine learning, APIs, middleware integration and digital workflows. Digital, AI and ML are a core focus of this role. You’ll help teams adopt AI driven development patterns, guide the use of platforms such as Vertex AI, and influence how machine learning solutions are designed, governed and operated across the enterprise. This role is hands on and highly collaborative. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders in person, running workshops, whiteboarding solutions and shaping technical strategy that supports large scale enterprise engineering. You’ll also mentor engineers and uplift DevOps, platform and reliability practices. This is a permanent, full time role with hybrid working. Sydney on Warrane, Gadigal Country is preferred due to stakeholder proximity and collaboration needs. Melbourne on Naarm, Wurundjeri Country is also an option. What do I need? • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise solutions on Google Cloud Platform, including Terraform and Kubernetes GKE • Solid software engineering background with strong coding capability in Python, Java or Go, and experience building microservices and distributed systems • Proven experience working with AI and machine learning platforms such as Vertex AI, including MLOps pipelines and AI driven development patterns • Deep understanding of DevOps, CI and CD, GitOps and SRE practices, with strong knowledge of cloud security, IAM, network security and compliance automation • Experience working in Agile or SAFe delivery environments, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
