Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re growing our expert Temporary Works and Trenchless team to tackle some of the most complex underground challenges in Australia and New Zealand. From deep trunk sewers 20m below urban centres with limited footprint deep access shafts to the surface enabling works and required pipe jacking supports, our projects are as rewarding as they are technically demanding.
To support us on this journey, we’re looking for a Principal Structural Engineer with expertise in deep shaft design and trenchless installation methods to join our regional team in Sydney.
You’ll work on high-impact infrastructure projects, with the flexibility of a hybrid model with up to three days a week from home when not on client site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design leadership across pipe jacking, micro-tunnelling, HDD, and live flow GRP slip-lining projects
  • Deep shaft design in constrained urban environments, including restricted footprint shafts over 20m deep
  • Temporary works and enabling solutions for complex underground infrastructure
  • Tender support and construction staging, helping shape winning bids and practical delivery strategies
  • Project coordination across disciplines, ensuring safety, efficiency, and constructability
  • Client and contractor collaboration, simplifying complex designs and improving construction methods
  • Mentoring junior engineers, contributing to design reviews and technical workshops
  • Driving innovation in trenchless and temporary works practices

Here are some recent projects you could help shape:

  • Melbourne Metro
  • Northeast Link
  • Gold Coast Seaway Project
  • Sunbury Level Crossing Removal
  • Herne Bay Trunk Sewer Upgrade (NZ)
  • Orakei Main Sewer Rehabilitation (NZ)
  • Bondi Ocean Outfall Sewer (BOOS) Rehabilitation
  • D4C consortium pump stations and trenchless shaft/shoring works
