We don’t turn away from challenges — we solve them. Job Summary: The Praefectus Digitalis Stabilitus is what it says, you are the commander of our digital stability. Part "Senior System Architect" or "Senior System Administrator", part software development, this is a complex role in a complex environment. Fundamentally you will develop the processes and systems that underly the OptimERA Holdings Inc family of companies. The foci of the companies lines of business are a mobile network operator, electrical contracting division, a marine contracting division, and a technical services division. Each of these rely heavily on an extremely diverse set of cloud and on-premises hardware and software. Many of our services are extremely critical in nature, and we will want tested and validated redundancy as well as failover programs. We don't like silos and cross training for team resiliancy and sharing of duties is encouraged. Key Responsibilities: Identify and develop plans for the elimination of technical debts. Help maintain existing infrastructure and operations. Identify and design future generations of infrastructure. Build, implement, train and test failure and recovery for various systems. Required: Experience in various cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Cloudflare et al) Experience with on-premises solutions (e.g. VMWare, KVM, Openstack, Proxmox) NAS/SAN/Cloud storage providers Integration of Windows, Linux and Apple workflows Understanding of various Internet Daemons (DNS, HTTPS, ssh, et al) and TCP/IP Security Infrastructure (SSO, Certificate Management, Authentication protocols) Automation platforms Preferred (but not required): Additional virtualization platforms IPv6 exposure Telecom experience Wired and Wireless networking Programming / Web Technology proficiency (Python, PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS and Bash are actively in use, the more you know the better) Examples of upcoming projects: Migrate away from VMware to another virtualization platform. Extend key critical services to have off-site cloud backup domain. Develop secure login platform for company staff. Assist development team with integrating customer facing website and book keeping platform. Train team in use and completion of Netbox. Develop private cloud to begin internalizing office tasks. Prioritize which of the above tasks as well as future ones to come get done, and when. Work Environment: This position combines remote system managment, development, communication and oversight as well as occasional travel. Travel may include site visits, inspections, and hands-on work in variable conditions (heat, cold, confined spaces, uneven terrain). You will work with people with a vast range of technical skills and must be prepared to explain processes and requirements to people at almost any level. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
