Piper Companies is seeking a Principal System Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology team in Reston, VA in an On-Site environment. This is a high-impact, cross-functional engineering position focused on delivering expert-level system designs and deployments across Azure, M365, Endpoint Management, IAM, and on-premises infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE PRINCIPAL SYSTEM ENGINEER INCLUDE:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in system architecture, integration, and testing.
  • Deep expertise in Azure, M365, Endpoint Management, IAM, and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Proficiency in requirements management and impact analysis for large-scale enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, security standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Professional certifications in Cloud or Systems Engineering (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, CISSP) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective enterprise systems aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Lead development of efficient system engineering processes and procedures across teams.
  • Conduct impact analyses on major design options and present risk-informed solutions.
  • Specify and evaluate system prototypes to facilitate optimal decision-making.
  • Establish and deploy architecture standards and technical principles for infrastructure and system engineering.
  • Perform rigorous system-level testing to ensure solution integrity and performance.
  • Serve as technical lead, collaborating with Enterprise Architects and stakeholders to develop complex solutions.
  • Drive enterprise technology strategy in partnership with engineers, project managers, and technical leads.
  • Evaluate system design quality, lead technical reviews, and enforce standards compliance.
