Description
The Principal Systems Engineer partners with key stake holders across the organization in the direction and management of the planning, design, engineering, and development of complex computer-based systems. This individual possesses evaluation skills in addition to knowledge, comprehension, application, and synthesis. This individual acts as a technical leader and system architect for complex systems for customer solutions. This individual helps identify and make visible systems design and architecture issues that span multiple disciplines and organizational areas to ensure the full product lifecycle is considered. Produces architectural block diagrams and high-level designs, delivers technical presentations to various management levels both internal and customer focused, provides answers to customer inquiries concerning system software and applications, and interfaces with third party hardware and software vendors. The Principal Systems Engineer relies upon wide-ranging experience, using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop data architecture, systems architecture, and perform data modeling for proposed and existing capabilities The application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with customers, to determine system functional specifications The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, or modification of system projects, including prototypes, based on and related to, system or customer design specifications Coordination of systems design artifacts and plans across organizational boundaries Interact with software and hardware engineers to convey system requirements and to understand detailed design and implementation Participate in technical exchange meetings with other program engineers, other contractors, and customers Develop and present briefings related to system capabilities in program and customer forums Support requirements definition and analysis for new system capabilities Develop system concept of operations and support documentation of system use cases for system enhancements Answer technical questions from customers, analyze customer requirements and do requirements flow down to the component level Prepare formal system level and unit level test procedures Apply and/or develop advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts Perform other job-related duties as assigned Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field 12+ years of experience working in a similar role 7+ years of experience in a technical leadership role Expertise in all phases of the systems and product lifecycle Position requires full competence in system engineering techniques and complete lifecycle management The starting pay range for this position is $128,900 to $154,700 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
