V. STUDENT EXPERIENCE & SUPPORT

  • Act as the primary liaison for student representatives, overseeing and delivering appropriate training to empower them.
  • Ensure timely marking of assignments, working with Programme Leaders and lecturers.
  • Oversee the collection, review, analysis, and submission of student feedback (end-of-module and end-of-programme) to the Academic Board.
  • Support students in making the most of their learning opportunities and achieving high standards.
  • Ensure all students fully understand course aims, objectives, and the performance levels required for success at Level 5 and above.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Higher Degree Level Qualification (e.g., Master’s or PhD) in a relevant discipline.
  • Held similar roles in leadership or a Principal role within a higher education setting.
  • Significant, relevant experience of teaching in higher education at Level 4 and above.
  • Demonstrable work experience in the administration of teaching and learning, coupled with relevant industry experience appropriate for Higher National programmes and professional qualifications.
  • Current knowledge of today’s higher education landscape, including quality assurance frameworks (e.g., QAA Quality Code) and a comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., OfS, DfE, data returns, Pearson expectations).
  • Proven commitment to continuous professional development, keeping professional knowledge up to date and improving capabilities.

  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills, with a proven ability to manage complex schedules, prioritise tasks effectively, and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Deep understanding of operational dynamics within an educational institution, including team dynamics and individual contributions, with a track record of effective delegation and staff empowerment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and nurture robust working relationships with all colleagues, from directors to support staff, while fostering a collaborative and approachable environment.
  • Proven accountability and ownership for outcomes, demonstrating the capacity to make independent decisions and take full responsibility.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities, with a proven track record of overseeing academic programmes and mentoring staff in a higher education setting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex academic and regulatory concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work positively and constructively within a small, flexible team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal promptly and effectively with inappropriate behaviour from students or staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively and sensitively to students and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • A strong commitment to equality and diversity and its practical application in the classroom and college environment.
  • A deep commitment to student-centred teaching and learning, quality assurance, and excellent customer care for both students and staff.

  • A professional qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Chartered Institute of Marketing Professional Diploma).
