PRINCIPLE PLANNING OFFICER

Location: Catmose, Oakham, LE15 6HP
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week
Pay Rate: £ 22.85 per hour

Responsibilities

We are seeking a professional to manage major planning applications, including industrial developments and residential schemes of up to 200 dwellings. The role involves:

  • Picking up and progressing applications to determination.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Utilizing IT systems effectively in a remote setting.
  • Conducting site visits with access to transport and flexibility to travel within the area.
  • Contributing immediately and maintaining momentum on key applications during a transitional period.

Person Specification

  • Highly experienced in managing major planning applications.
  • Proven track record in planning policy regulations and processes.
  • Knowledge of local government procedures and practices.
  • Understanding of current planning issues and legislation.
  • Experience with Neighbourhood Planning and Section 106 agreements.
  • Public speaking and presentation skills on planning matters.
  • Experience working with Elected Members and providing planning evidence at hearings/inquiries.
  • Competence in using Idox Uniform Software is preferable.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and high level of professionalism.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and manage staff effectively.
  • High level of skill in producing clear written documents and reports.
  • Numeracy skills for preparation and analysis of statistics.
  • Able to represent the Council at various official platforms.
  • Committed to equality, diversity, and customer care.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage workloads efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
