The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Principal Practitioner to provide a critical role at Corella Place / Post Sentence Branch

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Principal Practitioner will require broad and extensive case management expertise for oversight of case management practices and the capability to provide effective staff supervision, training and mentoring across a service stream of residents, including violent and sexual offenders and post-sentence supervision.
The position provides advice and consultation in relation to identified offender risk escalation behaviours, incident management and quality assurance practices and processes. This level of oversight occurs through line management by the General Manager (GM) – Corella Place and the role works in close consultation with Operations Manager, Clinical Services Managers and staff from Corrections Victoria (CV) Post Sentence Branch.
The Principal Practitioner works closely and collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including the Post Sentence Authority, Victoria Police, the Major Offenders Unit, Post Sentence Branch, and other business units.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide direct line management, professional development, leadership, and supervision of a team of Specialist Case Managers who are responsible for case managing residents within the identified offender group.
  • Progress and monitor the shifting nature of violent and sexual offender management to align with best practice literature and research of offender rehabilitation in the management of violent and sexual offenders, and in accordance with the CV’s Offender Management Framework.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in the case management of complex and/or high-risk individuals.
  • Expert understanding of and experience in best practice initiatives in relation to risk management and therapeutic work with high risk and complex individuals.
