Join us as our Quality Assurance Technician!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance (QA) Technician will provide continuous monitoring, sampling and testing of manufactured products to ensure products are produced to specification to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality; safely, and efficiently. The incumbent will work with the QA and production team to prepare, organize and document trials, update specification sheets, review and file Certificates of Analysis from suppliers, update standard operating procedures, non-conformance reports, coordination of quarantined product, and assist with training for new employees. The role involves maintaining adherence to GMP/AIB, Health and Safety Standards, and company regulations across all processes and personnel.
This position rotates over 3 shifts, Days (7 am to 3 pm) Afternoons (3 pm to 11 pm) and Nights (11pm to 7 am), 5-days per week, weekends as needed.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Food Safety industry standards.
  • Experience in Flexo printing is advantageous.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong time and change management skills with a reputation for punctuality and reliability.
  • Collaborative attitude with the ability to interact effectively with management and colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accurate measuring abilities in both metric and imperial units
  • Knowledge in Health & Safety Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Complete job approval start-up checks at press and bag converting stations according to standard and specifications.
  • Collect samples to complete various measurements (metric and imperial), weights, qualitative checks and destructive testing at press and bag converting stations.
  • Check and approve in process and finish product for release.
  • Check solvent retention when required.
  • Hand-make sample bags.
  • Make sure trial print and bags are good before being used or shipped.
  • Organize sample bags for retention and customer samples as required.
  • Communicate with production staff for updates, issues and investigation for any nonconforming product.
  • Monitor operator’s records to check quality control tests are being carried out and advise Manufacturing supervision accordingly
  • Assist in training of QC Dept and Manufacturing personnel
  • Assist with product development testing as required.
  • Collect bag and last press pull for orders at end of run
  • If quality issues are found, ensure products made and pallets assembled since the last “good check” are sent to holding area until re-check is complete
  • Draft and update QC test procedures and contribute to maintenance of Lab Manual
  • Prepare quality reports and update internal spec sheets
  • File job cards for completed work orders
  • Ensure cartons are correctly labelled and arranged on pallets according to specification
  • Keep FG files updated
  • Initiate/Follow up NCR / CCA investigations and ensure material is gathered to support e.g. samples, correct documentation, photographs where needed
  • Participate in the on-floor production shift meeting as required
  • Suggest methods for quality improvements
  • Support QA Manager and general department activities as required
