We are looking for a full-time Printing Press Assistant seeking long-term employment.
About the Position: The Printing Press Assistant is responsible for assisting the press operator on daily tasks such as set-up, processing and checking print jobs. During set up they will be required to collect dockets, prepare sleeves and inks as well as the colour standard. Maintaining a superior level of quality of printed material is essential to meeting and exceeding customer expectations and Tempo’s internal quality expectations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent preferred
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Basic knowledge of math and units of measurement
  • Superior time management skills and excellent organization skills
  • Experience in the flexographic printing industry would be an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Get dockets for jobs and prepare sleeves, inks and color stands for the next job
  • Order required film for a job using TORI
  • Check material before loading to ensure we are printing on the correct side
  • Obtain set up rolls and ensure wash up solvents are filled
  • Confirm sludge tanks have room for wash-ups
  • Check aniloxes in the press to ensure color standards are met and get any aniloxes that need to be changed
  • Arrange sleeves on the cart to correspond with where they will go in the press
  • Place inks in front of the pumps they will need to be connected to
  • Upon completion of a job, speedy clean units that need a color change
  • Open caps to change the sleeves after racking out the units
  • Put drain hose into an empty pail while ink pumping to drain old solvent and ink out of the pump
  • Clean aniloxe rollers that come out of the press once the calibration is complete
  • Clean ink splashes on sleeve end, return to rack and get the next sleeves and inks
  • Calibrate viscosities and check inks to maintain color
  • Maintain clean ink trays and rebuild doctor blades when necessary
