Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a full-time Remote Senior Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization & Patient Assistance to join our team! What does the Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization & Patient Assistance do? The Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization & Patient Assistance position is responsible for obtaining pre-authorizations for self-administered medications dispensed in the retail setting and triages patient calls to physicians, coordinates patient in network pharmacy. Reviews insurance for medically integrated pharmacy dispense per house rule. Supports and adheres to US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics Business Standards. Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities (included but not limited to): Contact insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits and requirements. Request, track, follow up and obtain prior authorization status from Pharmacy Prior Authorization Specialist. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations. Communicate any insurance changes or trends among team. Maintains a level of productivity suitable for the department. Clearly document all communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized documentation requirements, including proper format. Other duties as assigned Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum five (5) to seven years of experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills. Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended. Previous experience in a clinic setting preferred Extensive retail experience is strongly preferred.
