PRIVATE CONTRACT POSITION FOR CAPCC – COMMUNITY ACCESS FOR PEOPLE IN CONTINUING CARE

Provide companion duties to individual(s) residing in long term care facility that are between the ages of 18-65. Planning and coordination of activities such as shopping, going on recreational outings or community events (depends on the individual clients needs). The aim of your activities will be to promote and maintain suitable community access and involvement.
Spinal Cord Injury Alberta is looking for contract workers to act as companions for people living in long term care. We are currently seeking someone that has experience working with people with various disabilities and ideally has a Health Care Aide background. The companion will accompany clients out into the community on recreational outings.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be bondable, 2 References total (1 Personal & 1 Professional)
  • A current criminal record check including a Vulnerable Sector Search
  • If transporting clients in personal vehicle, you must possess a valid driver’s license and third party legal liability insurance of at least two million dollars. 6 series Endorsement from insurance company is required.
  • Ability to communicate by email
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word & Scanner or fax machine (to provide monthly invoicing)

Education & Experience:

  • Experience or training working with people with various disabilities preferred
  • HCA training desirable but not limited to
  • CPR/First Aid
