As the Food Service Chef at Primrose School of South Meridian, you will play an important role in supporting children’s growth and development by preparing fresh, nutritious meals that fuel their learning each day. We are currently seeking a full-time Chef/Cook who is organized, dependable, and passionate about providing healthy meals in a school environment. This position is responsible for preparing meals and snacks for approximately 150–200 students daily, while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen. Responsibilities: Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks following Primrose guidelines Plan and execute weekly menus in collaboration with the Leadership Team Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment Manage kitchen inventory, food ordering, and weekly supply needs Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations Wash dishes and maintain cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and surfaces Ensure all food is prepared with awareness of allergies and dietary restrictions Qualifications: Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred, but not required (we are willing to train the right candidate) Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Ability to lift 40 lbs or more Strong organizational and time management skills Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work as part of a team Excellent communication skills Must be able to pass a background check Expectations: Promote healthy eating habits through well-balanced, appealing meals Maintain strict adherence to allergy safety, including a nut-aware environment Support and uphold the Primrose culture of care, professionalism, and teamwork Benefits: Monday–Friday schedule, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (no nights or weekends) $16.00–$18.00 per hour (DOE) Closed on weekends, evenings, and major holidays 80 hours of accrued PTO plus paid holidays Paid winter break (Christmas through New Year’s Day) Medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance options 401(k) with 3% company match Paid training and opportunities for professional growth Supportive leadership team and positive work environment Bonus and incentive opportunities If you are passionate about creating healthy meals and being part of a team that makes a difference in children’s lives every day, we encourage you to apply!
