Description AW Health Care is currently seeking a PRN Activity Assistant/Caregiver. The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting the Activities Director in the planning and implementation of program activities and for assisting with meals, transportation, and clerical functions of the program. The Caregiver is to provide personal hygiene and a safe environment to clients. Priority will be given to providing for the client’s physical care such as personal cleanliness and/or wound care and to the immediate environment which directly affects the patient’s health and safety needs. Personal Care Aide services are scheduled intermittent visits provided to the patient according to the patient’s care plan. Adult Day Care Responsibilities: 1. Assisting the Activities Director in the planning and implementation of reality orientation, cognitively stimulating activities, community entertainment, parties and/or holiday celebrations, daily exercise to music, table games, music therapy and outings; 2. Assisting with meal service as needed; 3. Daily organizing of the Activities Areas and supply cabinets; 4. Assist in emergencies as directed by the Program Director. Home Care Responsibilities: 1. Assist the patient with personal hygiene such is bathing, care of skin, mouth and hair. Instruct patient and family in meeting patient’s personal hygiene needs 2. Provide physical assistance in patient transfer, positioning and ambulation as outlined in the patient care plan. 3. Assist patient with prescribed non-skilled exercises which the patient, family, and in-home care aide have been taught by appropriate professional personnel. 4. Change patient bed linen as needed. 5. Clear patient path of clutter or patient’s room to provide for maximum patient safety. 6. Prepare a light meal if visit during mealtime and time permits. 7. Assist in cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment in proper condition. 8. Assist the recipient with ordinarily self-administered medications (open bottles, get water). 9. Shopping for groceries or household items specifically required for the health and maintenance of the recipient. 10. Apply non-prescription topical ointments/lotions to unbroken skin at the recipient’s direction. Requirements Qualifications: The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting the Activities Director in the planning and implementation of program activities and for assisting with meals, transportation, and clerical functions of the program. 1. Understands the needs of the elderly and, in particular, the needs of those with cognitive impairments (memory problems, confusion and/or disorientation); 2. Demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of family and/or caregivers; 3. Is available to work unscheduled days and hours; 4. Is able to commit to a cooperative performance to attain care, organization and programmatic objectives which may entail performing duties not included in this job description. Lifting Requirements: 1. Ability to participate in physical activity; 2. Ability to work for extended period of time while standing and being involved in physical activity; 3. Moderate lifting; 4. Ability to do extensive bending, lifting and standing on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
Assist the Activities Director in planning and implementing stimulating programs for elderly clients in an adult day care setting. Provide essential personal care, hygiene, and safety support for patients in home care environments.
