Job Summary: The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is responsible for performing accurate and timely diagnostic testing across multiple clinical disciplines, including waived, moderate, and high complexity procedures. This role supports patient care by ensuring precise reporting of laboratory results and contributing to operational excellence through collaboration and documentation. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Testing & Result Reporting Perform and report waived, moderate, and high complexity tests in accordance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines (CLIA, COLA, etc.) Validate patient results for accuracy, perform clinical correlation, and escalate abnormalities or critical values appropriately Instrument Maintenance & Quality Control: Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on assigned instrumentation, document all procedures per protocol Perform calibrations and calibration verifications per schedule Run daily quality controls, troubleshoot QC failures, document corrective actions, and ensure issues are resolved prior to patient testing Report equipment malfunctions as needed to minimize downtime to Lab lead or Director Operational Support: Receive, label, and process specimens using two patient identifiers Ensure LIS and EMR data integrity by cross-checking orders, results, and transmission accuracy Maintain reagent inventory; ensure all materials are properly dated (received, opened, expiration) and stored Participate in maintaining and documenting laboratory logs, including quality control records, maintenance sheets, and reagent logs Professionalism & Collaboration: Support ongoing training efforts by sharing knowledge and reinforcing best practices with peers and new staff Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians, patients, staff, and vendors Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and all internal policies and protocols Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and ensure technical proficiency Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related chemical/biological science as defined by CLIA Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through ASCP or equivalent 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience preferred Skills & Tools Proficiency: Experience with chemistry analyzers, Immunoassay, hematology equipment, hemostasis platforms, and point-of-care testing instruments Competency using EMR/LIS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams) Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical or procedural issues Work Schedule: PRN - Clinic Hours Monday - Saturday 9am-6pm
