Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is to provide superior subspecialty clinical care to the children of Central Virginia, to provide outstanding training in infectious diseases for medical students, residents and subspecialty fellows, and to generate new knowledge through both clinical and basic science research projects.
Chief Purpose of this position: The Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU is seeking candidates interested in a PRN position and contribute to Pediatric Infectious Disease’s program success. Candidates should be eager to join and augment a superior academic infectious diseases division that provides clinical coverage within a Pediatric Medical Center that has recently experienced significant dynamic growth within a new inpatient hospital which opened in April of 2023.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases
• Experience with clinical care of patientsDemonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in an academic medical center
• Demonstrated excellent teaching skills

• Teaching: Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities. Faculty member will provide teaching and mentorship to medical students, Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows when applicable.
• Research: Research aspirations are encouraged but not required; support for these activities will depend upon prior accomplishments and potential.
• Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.Clinical: Inpatient consultation for children with suspected infections, or infections that are complex, chronic or recurrent, or particularly difficult to diagnose or treat; Phone consultation for physicians and other pediatric medical professionals who need assistance and advice with infections disease issues pertinent to their patients; Consultation for review of antibiotic, antiviral, or antifungal therapies, including assistance in drug monitoring for toxicities and side effects for both inpatient and home health services; Consultation on epidemiologic issues in the health care setting as well as in the community.
