 Longview Rehabilitation Hospital Registered Nurse - (RN) Rehabilitation Unit JOB TYPE:  PRN ONLY JOB SUMMARY:  Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.   Qualifications: Education: Associate’s degree Required; Bachelor’s degree Preferred ; Graduate of a Credited Nursing Program Licenses: Current RN to practice in the state of Texas Certifications: American Heart Association BCLS; New employees that have BLS certification from another organization than American Heart Association (i.e. American Red Cross) have 30 days to complete American Heart Association version.  Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.  Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.  Rehab experience required Essential Functions Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for a given population based upon age specific and cultural needs. This is done in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach embracing quality and safety. Assures quality of care by measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital philosophies and standards of care set by Texas State Board of Nursing,  and other governing agency regulations.
