EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate will be able to work with minimum supervision in a payroll team of two. Strong
organizational, technical, communication and team skills are required. Confidentiality is essential. The
ideal candidate will need to be flexible and able to quickly adapt to change.
The Division uses Azure and K-12 Accounting/HR/Payroll software.
The ideal candidate for this role will do more than process payroll. They will also develop working
strategies for reducing paper and for refining/updating processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Min. of 5 years payroll experience in payroll administration
  • Professional verbal & written communication skills in person, phone or email with staff.
  • Strong computer skills in HRIS programs, Excel, Word and Google
  • Effective time management and multi-tasking skills are a must.
  • Successful completion of PCP courses is a definite asset.
  • Experience working with Union contracts is an asset

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly payroll for Division staff – certified and/or non-certified
  • Verify accuracy of monthly time sheets
  • Calculate and pay accumulated overtime based employment standards and internal overtime

agreements

  • Assist in the preparation of internal audits and provide information as required
  • Assist in the preparation of working papers for the external audit
  • Resource person for employee inquiries
  • Resource person for Senior Administration for employment and payroll issues
  • Prepare correspondence for staff or third parties regarding Division personnel, letters of

experience and letters of employment

  • Administration of employee LAPP pensions and prepare year end LAPP audit
  • Prepare ROE’s, T4’s, T4A’s, CRA deduction remittance information
  • Balance information and report to external agencies (Statistics Canada, WCB and Revenue

Canada )on an ongoing basis

  • Calculate ATRF, ATA contributions. Transmits and reconciles monthly reports to ATRF
  • Process payment of Certificated staff late starts, leaves, summer payouts as per ATRF guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures
  • Willingness to take on other assigned duties as needed to support the Finance team.
