Description The Procedure Scheduler coordinates and schedules ambulatory surgery center (ASC) and hospital-based medical procedures by matching patients with the appropriate provider, facility, and appointment availability while utilizing correct scheduling codes. Reviews clinical information to ensure appointments align with provider diagnoses and procedural indications. Verifies CPT and ICD-10 coding accuracy, confirms required medical clearances and pre-surgical testing, and accurately documents informed consent for procedures and surgeries. Educates patients on procedure preparation, arrival times, and other necessary instructions while addressing questions and concerns. Collaborates with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient departmental operations, demonstrates flexibility in a dynamic healthcare environment, and maintains excellent verbal, written, computer, and electronic medical record (EMR) communication skills. Responsibilities Schedules ASC and hospital based medical procedures for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate schedule code Effectively utilizes clinical knowledge when determining if appointment is consistent with diagnosis/indications indicated by the provider Completes accurate documentation of informed consent with patients for procedures and surgeries as needed Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, time of patients scheduled arrival, and any other directional information needed; takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed Confirm accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnoses in the procedure order Assists other members of the department as needed Exhibit an ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting and has the ability to be flexible Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as computer/electronic medical record systems skills Requirements Education and Qualifications High School Diploma Required Insurance experience preferred Job knowledge and skills Insurance verification/precertification Understanding of Google Calendar Provider scheduling Communicating procedure instructions to patient CPT coding Hospital order forms Medications Hospital scheduling Full-Time Benefits & Perks Set scheduled 4-day work week Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (effective 1st of the month following 60 days) Company-paid Long-Term Disability (60%) and $25,000 Basic Life Insurance 6 Paid Holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4 of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas PTO accrued at 3.08 hours per paycheck (80 hrs/yr) 401k matching program after 1 year worked VIP Status at both Southeastern Cardiology and Southeastern Gastroenterology Discounts through Uniforms of America, and the Working Advantage program.
