Description

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer with strong Process Control expertise to support the safe and efficient operation of oil and gas facilities. The successful candidate will focus primarily on the engineering development phase of long term projects, developing and optimising process control philosophies and supporting the design and implementation of robust control strategies.

This role acts as a key link between Process Engineering and Instrumentation disciplines, ensuring effective control strategies are defined and implemented during the engineering stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineering teams to develop, implement, and optimise process control strategies for oil and gas production and processing facilities
  • Prepare and maintain process control documentation, including control narratives, cause and effect charts, and P&IDs
  • Act as checker for SCDs and logic diagrams produced by other engineers
  • Support facility start ups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities
  • Contribute to process safety initiatives, including alarm management, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and HAZOP follow ups
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and internal safety policies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the process engineering function
  • Work closely with suppliers and clients to develop documentation ensuring robust process control solutions
  • Serve as a technical interface between Process Engineering and Instrumentation teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5–10 years’ experience in process engineering and process control within the oil and gas industry
  • Strong understanding of how process properties influence control system performance
  • Solid knowledge of process control principles and PID loop tuning
  • (practical loop tuning experience is beneficial, but system level understanding is most important)
  • Experience troubleshooting production systems such as:
  • MEG systems
  • TEG systems
  • Produced Water Treatment (PWT)
  • Water injection systems
  • Experience with non continuous processes such as filters or centrifuges and integration with continuous MEG units is advantageous
  • Ability to analyse process control issues and evaluate alternative technical solutions

Key Competencies

  • Experience supporting offshore platforms, LNG facilities, refineries, or gas processing plants
  • Experience tuning PID loops and implementing advanced control strategies
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capability
  • Ability to work closely with operations teams in fast paced industrial environments
  • Proficiency in process simulation and data analysis tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proactive and results focused mindset
