ABOUT THIS POSITION

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation’s largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.
The Water Services Department is seeking to fill a Process Control Information Technology Analyst/Programmer II. The Process Control Information Technology Analyst/Programmer II provides support for computer control systems in water production, water distribution, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment. Computer control systems are used to monitor and automatically control the process of producing and distributing water as well as the treatment and recovery of wastewater. In this position the programmer/analyst designs, builds, implements, and modifies computer programs for automatic operation of site processes and equipment.

Other duties include:

  • Designing, building, implementing and modifying graphical user interfaces for real time monitoring and automated operation of site processes and equipment.
  • Working with consultants in development and enhancement of real time computer programs.
  • Graphical displays and documentation for site automation.
  • Providing user training on process control computer systems and analyzing site processes and equipment events and disturbances.
  • Reviewing and recommending revisions of computer programs necessitated by seasonal process and equipment changes.
  • Troubleshooting process control computer system components.

PAY RANGE EXPLANATION:

  • Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 060. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

  • Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
  • When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in computer applications programming and development and systems analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience in/with the following:

  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems.
  • Experience maintaining documentation and training staff on applications.
