JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Process Controls Engineer to support the development of new manufacturing processes and the optimization/improvement of existing processes. This role provides the opportunity to significantly impact process efficiency and plant profitability across diverse business areas.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Domestic travel up to 25% depending on project needs

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with controls-focused coursework
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • New graduates with relevant internship experience will be considered

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 5 years of manufacturing industry experience
  • New graduates with relevant internship experience may apply

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Classical control theory and PID loop tuning/analysis
  • Familiarity with advanced process control methods (MPC, non-linear, cascade, feed-forward control)
  • MATLAB/Simulink programming
  • Controls-oriented modeling (system identification)
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present technical content effectively
  • Capability to work in manufacturing settings
  • Works well independently and in team environments
  • Results-driven and self-motivated
  • Values diverse team collaboration

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Strong technical curiosity
  • Programming in Python, C++, or .NET languages (C#, VB)
  • Interest or experience in PLC and IEC-based programming (ladder, structured text)
  • Experience working in or leading cross-functional and global teams
  • Experience with MPC implementation and tuning
  • Familiarity with multivariate statistical process control (e.g., PCA, PLS)

  • Design, develop, and implement classical and advanced process control solutions in manufacturing environments
  • Work individually or on multidisciplinary teams with experienced professionals
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gain process knowledge and identify control opportunities
  • Evaluate and enhance existing control strategies to improve process efficiency and profitability
  • Develop and maintain model predictive control (MPC) solutions
  • Define hardware/software platforms for control implementations
  • Facilitate the transfer of control technologies into manufacturing and provide training
  • Generate technical reports, invention disclosures, and patent applications
