POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is within the Engineering Group with a focus on Process Documentation and Quality Standards development. The Job will be to develop, maintain and troubleshoot; Standard Operating Procedures, Work instructions, Quality Standards, and provide Technical Support to Manufacturing, to aid in the production of furniture components in a Lean Manufacturing environment.

The individual in this position should be forward thinking about helping provide information to the shop floor in the most non-disruptive manner possible. This could include, but not limited to, utilizing IT to create web based programs to house and share information, utilization of AI for documentation and quality assurance standards creation, and vision technologies to help identify and troubleshoot issues.

  • Quality specifications and troubleshooting guides will play a key role in this position.
  • Three months of the year there will be strategic focus on production quality and checks.
  • This would include scheduled checks on key areas of production to ensure standards are followed and maintained

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Process oriented, critical thinking, with experience in Lean Manufacturing and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strict adherence to all safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate of Science degree (or higher) with coursework in technical writing or equivalent experience, OR, Process documentation, technical writing, and process development experience, OR Combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge in various software packages is essential; Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and photo management tools
  • Experience with additional software packages would be helpful; AutoCAD, Solidworks, Business ERP systems ( Frontier)
  • Experience or Education in Lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience in furniture manufacturing would be helpful
  • Knowledge of wood and woodworking processes would be helpful
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services in direct support of manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Responsibilities
  • Creates process documentation for the manufacturing processes.
  • Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format and content.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to gather information for process documentation
  • Maintain production rate information. Translate information into clear, concise, consistent process documentation
  • Utilize CAD packages to create documentation, AutoCAD, Solidworks
  • Provides training documentation and instructions in support of manufacturing processes
  • Drive and Support continuous improvement.
  • Become a “go to” person for process information.
  • Provides technical support to the shop floor.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Utilize Microsoft Applications including Publisher, Word, Access and Excel.
  • Supports the ECN process revising SOP books to support change requests and providing appropriate revision of documents.
  • Helps to make final decisions related to determining clearest assembly procedures for operators/builders.
  • Interacts with engineering personnel to resolve product related issues.
  • Reports project status to management as necessary.
  • Recommends changes to processes to reduce lead time, rework or other waste and enhance the communication while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Assists in various continuous improvement projects as directed by management.
  • Assists in evaluation and implementation of new software.
