Job Description Position: Engineering Co-op Primary Location: Alberta Schedule: Full time, Hourly Reports To: Plant Manager Compensation: $28-$30 per hour. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. SCOPE OF POSITION: Reporting to the Plant Manager or Engineer, your responsibilities will be varied, including documentation and information management, integrity management, record keeping, cost control, coordinating delivery of supplies and material, tracking project progress, maintaining project files, ensuring quality control and safety, trouble shooting and follow up. You will be paired with an engineering mentor throughout your assignment(s). You will be involved in field operations, gain exposure to project management including estimating, project development and execution. Specific Accountabilities could include (but are not limited to): DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to all Chemtrade safety protocols and behave in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Conduct yourself in a professional manner by respecting all those with whom you come in contact. Provide technical assistance to Operations and Maintenance Departments under the direction of an Engineer or other qualified individual. Perform engineering assignments as required to maintain and upgrade plant equipment and facility, reduce costs and support a safe, environmentally sound operation. Scheduling of activities to meet timelines as outlined in the Project Plan or task(s). Coordinating material delivery to the site. Control and organization of related documentation such as project files, permits and certificates, equipment tracking (owned, leased, rental and owner supplied). Update plant drawings where necessary. Assist the plant Operations, Shipping, Maintenance and Engineering Departments with Management of Change (MOC) procedures. Analytical and problem-solving support for process troubleshooting Document processes, collect and analyze data and interact with employees and leaders Support root cause problem solving activities to improve overall performance Engage various internal and external stakeholders and team members for the completion of capital projects Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure Design and conduct experiments, devise appropriate measurements, analyze data and form reliable conclusions. Use current computer-based tools for analysis, simulation, visualization, synthesis and design. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Education: 2rd Year+ Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Student Minimum GPA: 3.0 / 4.0 Technical Skills: Proficient in all areas of engineering, computers, and engineering programs as expected from a chemical engineering student (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, etc.). Good organization and communication skills.
