Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, Process and Technology, we are seeking a full-time Process Engineer specializing in industrial water treatment to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. The Process Engineer will provide process engineering expertise to the technology selection, facility design, detailed design, commissioning and operation of surface facilities all with a focus on optimization, identification of cost savings opportunities and assurance of safe operation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering with 20 years of diverse experience.
- Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA.
- Experience in both EPC and Owner/Operator role preferred.
- Engineering:
- Participated in risk review and HAZOP analyses, including resolution and close out
- Prepared and maintained heat and material balances, including design optimization
- Inorganic chemistry knowledge
- Sour gas or other toxic environment engineering would be an asset
- Pipe hydraulics
- Thermodynamics
- Industrial water purification and treatment
- Process optimization in commercial plant operations
- Materials selection experience would be an asset
Experience with non-metallic vessels and piping systems
Experience with process equipment associated with ion exchange, membrane systems, solid transportation systems, evaporation, crystallization, and centrifuge systems.
Previously managed and implemented projects in area of expertise

Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize process designs to simultaneously ensure technical feasibility and minimize costs
- Providing comprehensive process engineering and design services by establishing design criteria and preparing specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements
- Supporting development, implementation and maintenance of discipline design standards, checklists and procedures
- Applying strong working knowledge for in-depth validation and/or development of process simulation techniques and stream tables
- Preparing and reviewing deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, Line Lists, datasheets, design calculations, equipment list, sizing criteria, etc.
- Applying strong working knowledge of the preparation and review of process studies and design documentation
- Participating in design reviews and HAZOPs
- Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements
- Process studies and design documentation
- Equipment sizing, line sizing and pipeline hydraulic calculations
- Instrument process specification and sizing of in-line devices
