Job Overview
This position will be expected to provide solutions to Materials and Process Engineering related initiatives that are required to support to the Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) manufacturing facility. This engineer will work closely with the entire MOV team to maintain and improve the Quality, Cost, and Delivery metrics for the MOV product lines.

A Day In The Life

  • Perform all duties while maintaining proper industrial safety and chemical hygiene standards
  • Execute Process Engineering activities to support and improve MOV manufacturing, including ceramic material preparation, ceramic sintering operations, coating and finishing operations, high voltage electrical testing, packaging, labeling, and data analysis.
  • Support the ceramic sintering and annealing operations to ensure MOV quality is maintained.
  • Use Lean techniques to identify areas of improvement in the manufacturing process and lead teams to implement those changes.
  • Identify, justify, construct, and execute capital projects for equipment and upgrades as they become necessary for reliability or capacity growth.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing defects such as cracking, uneven coating, or porosity.
  • Conduct root cause analysis which may include applying tools such as XRD, SEM, and ICP.
  • Ability to travel less than 10%
  • Other duties as assigned

  • 3-5 years of Process Engineering Experience
  • Bachelors degree in ceramic, materials, or chemical engineering. Or similar degree with applicable experience
  • Experience with ceramic manufacturing methods and kiln operations.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing and measurement.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstration of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
  • A high degree of knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required, and familiarity with a factory MRP system such as SAP is desired.
  • Experience with MiniTab or other statistical analysis software is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCad, SolidWorks) is preferred.
