PROCESS ENGINEER I: JOB OVERVIEW

ADF Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process Engineer I to join our team.
This entry-level role is ideal for individuals eager to learn and gain field experience with topics such as thermodynamics, fluid flow, equipment design, and process safety.
The process engineer will work closely with senior process engineers and mechanical designers to develop engineering designs for primarily food and animal feed clients.
Essential Functions and Duties:

Perform assigned project tasks with guidance from engineers, lead designers, and managers, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Participate in site visits to collect field data.
  • Interpret markups and field data from others.
  • Create or modify Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s)
  • Perform simple piping hydraulic and heat/mass balance calculations by hand or using software tools.
  • Assemble piping, equipment, and instrument specifications and obtain vendor quotes.
  • Evaluate the applicability of environmental and safety design codes to specific client conditions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical designers to develop 3D models of facility equipment and piping.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 0-4 years of relevant experience (internships or co-op experience preferred).

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Experience with data analysis tools and CAD software.
  • Basic knowledge of automation, control systems, or statistical process control (SPC).
