We are looking for a hands-on Process Engineer to lead manufacturing process development, optimization, and reliability improvement for advanced LiDAR systems. This role focuses on scaling high-precision opto-mechanical assemblies from RnD to NPI to Mass production while ensuring quality, stability, and automotive compliance. You will work closely with R&D, Mechanics, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to drive process robustness and yield improvement. What You’ll Do Develop, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes for opto-mechanical assemblies Lead NPI transition from development to production (DFM / DFT support) Define and implement PFMEA, Control Plans, SOPs, and Work Instructions Perform process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk), SPC, and GR&R studies Conduct root cause investigations (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) Drive yield improvement and scrap reduction initiatives Lead DOE activities for process window optimization Support automation integration and equipment qualification Improve cycle time and line balancing Work with CM’s and suppliers to ensure process stability and automotive compliance Requirements B.Sc. in Materials, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or Optics 5–7 years of experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment – Must Proven hands-on experience with automated opto-mechanical assembly processes, including: Pick-and-place of optical components Automated adhesive dispensing and curing systems PnP machines (e.g., BESI / Datacon platforms) Sealing, precision screwing, and miniature welding processes Strong experience with: SPC and statistical analysis Process validation methodologies Failure analysis and root cause Automotive or high-reliability standards (IATF 16949 – advantage) Experience in precision assembly, adhesives, optics, or electromechanical systems, welding, soldering – advantage Hands-on mindset with strong data analysis capability Excellent cross-functional communication skills Mass-production and Clean room manufacturing experience Nice to Have Knowledge of reliability testing (thermal cycling, humidity, vibration) Familiarity with JMP / advanced Excel / SolidWorks
Responsibilities
The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing manufacturing processes for advanced opto-mechanical LiDAR assemblies, focusing on scaling production from R&D through mass production. This includes defining critical documentation like PFMEA and SOPs, conducting capability studies, and driving yield and scrap reduction initiatives.
