Fortescue is seeking a driven and hands-on Intermediate Process Engineer to join our high-performing Engineering team at Port Hedland. In this unique residential opportunity, you’ll work closely with key stakeholders across Port Operations, Iron Bridge Concentrate Handling, Metallurgy and Engineering teams to optimise critical materials handling processes and maximise throughput performance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Chemical, Process, or Metallurgical Engineering
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in process engineering, preferably in a mining, materials handling, or heavy industry setting
  • Solid understanding of bulk materials handling, water usage in processing environments, and process optimisation principles
  • Experience with process modelling and simulation software
  • Proven ability to lead test work programs and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong safety mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
Responsibilities
  • Drive optimisation initiatives across port operations to improve throughput, sampling, moisture management, and water usage
  • Develop and lead test work programs focused on sampling accuracy, material characterisation, and system performance
  • Use modelling and analysis to support decision-making around shipped moisture, water balance, and product grade optimisation
  • Collaborate across operations and engineering teams to enhance ore and concentrate handling knowledge and practices
  • Act as the technical liaison between Port Operations and Iron Bridge Concentrate Handling Facility
  • Work directly with OEM vendors and internal stakeholders to identify and deliver process improvements
  • Ensure compliance with Fortescue’s Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality standards
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation and process design deliverables
