Summary/Purpose

  • The Process Engineer will design, develop and maintain the cost estimates, routings, and BOMs for all product produced in the JTEKT-Walhalla facility. The Process Engineer will also maintain and audit the fixed assets database and Oracle listing for the JTEKT-Walhalla facility to ensure it is maintained and accounted for on a semi-annual basis. The Process Engineer will lead cross functional quality gate activities for new products/processes for the JTEKT – Walhalla facility

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of quality and standard work systems - preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and ability to interact with customer, suppliers and all levels of the JTEKT organization.
  • Practical understanding of GD&T and die set / tooling machining and assembly processes.
  • Practical understanding of statistical analysis, DOE and product/process capability.
  • Practical understanding of metal forming, processing and metrology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Project, (CAD) plus Minitab - Preferred.
  • Preferred experience with Oracle EBS
  • Practical understanding of problem-solving tools; 5Why, 8D, 8 Step A3, 7 quality tools.
  • Must be professional in appearance and presentation.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 Year Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering - Preferred
  • 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment - Preferred
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design, develop cost estimates, manufacturing feasibility, tooling costs and capital investment recommendations.
  • Maintain BOMs and routings for all parts within the Walhalla facility.
  • Support manufacturing on requests to improve manufacturability, scrap, and production rates.
  • Annual standard cost process planning, coordination, and implementation of re-cost.
  • Provide cost studies and estimates as required.
  • Member of Thrust Bearing Product Team.
  • Develop and maintain project plans for New Item/Process/Material launches
  • Lead and participate, as required, cross-functional teams to meet QG20 and customer milestones on New Items.
  • Lead fixed asset management and semi-annual inventory process.
  • Responsible for the continual improvement of all processes within the scope of the Process Engineering role.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
  • This position will require the ability to organize and lead cross-functional teams.
