Position Title: Manufacturing Process Engineer (Pressing Sintering)
Location: Orwell, Ohio

I. Summary of Job:

  • Current opening in Green Shaping – Pressing or Sintering Departments
  • The manufacturing process engineer serves as the primary technical resource within the assigned manufacturing area. Responsible for all engineering related activities including developing, planning, supervising, performing, and coordinating a broad range of process engineering activities. This includes training, quality assurance, statistical analysis, diagnosis and troubleshooting of automated process equipment and other related technical functions which will lend significant contribution to the organization and the achievement of its goals and objectives.

II. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Daily control and improvement of the entire manufacturing process within the assigned areas of manufacturing including but not limited to powder metal characterization, pressing, die management, sintering, and metallurgical analysis.
  • Process support: Inspection of critical characteristics, historical analysis of equipment operation, quality, etc.
  • Equipment support: Advanced preventative maintenance, technical troubleshooting (including electrical / electronic and controls.
  • Smart factory integration including process data, machine diagnostics and status reporting
  • Procedures, working instructions: Development, implementation, training, and auditing
  • Project management: Lead new process introduction / qualification, equipment installation, etc.
  • Problem Solving: Identify complex problems; Lead teams in a systematic approach to resolution using data-driven analysis / decision making; Follow-through actions through implementation and validation
  • Ability to develop understanding of complex and evolving processes as required to lead, implement, and sustain systems improvements
  • Evaluate skill levels of technicians, develop training materials, coach and train team members for improving team and equipment performance.
  • Equipment design and maintenance: Develop design specifications for equipment and supporting preventative maintenance procedures

IV. Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Experience with variety of manufacturing equipment, including fundamental understanding of operations, user interface, process controls and programming
  • Experience with automated material handling and robotics, including process controls, inspection and programming
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of electrical / electronic and control systems is desirable.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Able to work well in a team environment and effectively communicate throughout organization
  • Lean manufacturing principles, Blackbelt training desirable
  • Data analysis and related software (i.e. Minitab)

VII. Education Guidelines:

  • BS Engineering – Mechanical, Controls, Electrical, industrial, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or closely related science with a minimum of 3 - 5+ years of related experience

VIII. Experience Guidelines:

  • 3-5 years - R&D or Manufacturing environment
  • 1-2 years - Project Management
  • Must have excellent track record in project planning, execution and delivery
  • Experience as an equipment engineer or field service engineering professional who is highly effective working in a team-oriented matrix organization
