Description SUMMARY The Process Engineer is primarily responsible for improving industrial processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification Assess processes, taking measurements and interpreting data Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output Manage cost and time constraints Perform risk assessments Provide process documentation and operating instructions Analyze work flows within and across all departments to determine how the Company can work better together Review the KPI monitoring systems and determine ways to improve their ability to maintain Company operations Create an analytical process that justifies business decisions Analyze capital expenditures and project designs to help find ways to cut costs Work side-by-side with management to discover inefficiencies in business processes and then determine the best ways to bring business methods in line with financial goals Act as in internal consultant to develop short and long term strategies for the organization Coordinate and lead key projects for improvement across all levels of the organization Monitor progress in order to check if changes yield desirable results Be familiar with customer products and their applications. Be familiar with the functions of other departments and how they interface with his/her department Be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and policies Assist with implementing, investigating, and training of safety programs. Fill in for Production Supervisors as needed SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises approximately 20 - 40 employees in the Mill, Finishing and Shipping Department as a fill-in supervisor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
