The GIE Molding Engineer defines new molding process to support new product development projects. The Molding Engineer works closely with the R&D department and manufacturing to influence the design based on the manufacturing constrains. The product and process design will be optimized to reach high standard of quality and performances.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan, implement and coordinate new molding development activities (mold design/build and molding processes) following the GIE process and associated gates review.
  • Review product drawings ensuring part designs can be injection molded economically at the right level of quality – Design for Mold-ability & Scale-ability (DFMS).
  • Specify equipment, molds and materials for new molding processes, or existing process changes.
  • Apply CAD/CAM, mold flow and CFD techniques, state-of-the art productivity tools along with mold cavity process monitoring instrumentation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with R&D, Plant, Quality, Manufacturing, GIE groups, and outside mold maker/molding vendors.
  • Define and write capital expenditure requests for pilot equipment and prototype molds.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for molding projects.
  • Brings technical data to finance to define product manufacturing COGS to support project business case.
  • Install new equipment and molds to support new product development.
  • Responsible for documentation and training of new product.
  • Supervise technicians to complete assigned projects.
  • Lead projects as assigned.
  • Maintain up-to-date familiarity with developments through attendance at professional meetings, literature and consultations.
  • Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.
