Job Details Job Location: Hartford City Mill - Hartford City, IN 47348 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: Bachelor's Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: M-F 8 hours per day Job Category: Manufacturing SUMMARY: A Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes and systems by using their proficiencies to identify inefficiencies and make recommendations to improve safety, quality, cost, and productivity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead efforts to measure project effectiveness to help reduce costs and improve absolute efficiency. Work with operations team to continually improve production rates, efficiencies, yields, and costs. Lead role in developing and implementing new projects (includes key involvement in operator training and start-up support). Lead cross-functional teams for specific short-term improvement efforts (i.e. 90-day teams). Support shutdown/start-up planning and activities. Monitor and report on daily operating and quality parameters. Lead and coordinate plant process trials involving new procedures, process conditions, equipment, specifications, and/or chemicals, etc. Create and manage process documentation. Champion the use of area IT-based systems (i.e. PI, Proficy, Cognex, etc.). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Varied, depending upon level of experience and demonstrated capabilities. Qualifications SKILLS, TRAITS, AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in either Paper Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline combined with work experience in a process industry (specific experience in the Pulp & Paper industry is highly preferred). Character, inquisitiveness, initiative, passion, and drive. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Communication skills (i.e. verbal, written, and presentation). Relationship and leadership skills, including ability to clearly and concisely convey technical information to non-technical users. Problem-solving and project management skills, including the ability to think “outside the box”. Proficient use of standard engineering software and analysis tools (i.e. MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Highly organized, observant, detail-oriented, safety-minded, and efficient time manager.
