YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS):

  • 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or technology in one of the following areas: Automation, Automotive, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Robotics from an accredited college or university or 4 years of equivalent experience
  • Ability to work any shift
  • Ability to work over-time

WHAT CAN GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS):

  • 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a paint shop
  • Controls experience in software, hardware programming, development, or execution
  • PLC and robotics experience
  • Experience developing tools, equipment, or processes such as layouts
  • Experience with simulation/game design or development
  • Experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, machine vision equipment or systems
  • Experience with automation or automated equipment such as conveyance

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

The Paint Process Engineer will play a key role in driving innovation and continuous improvement within the paint shop. This position requires a hands-on problem solver who can think quickly, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and contribute to process enhancements. Key responsibilities include overseeing the operation and optimization of prime and paint application booths, with potential involvement in sealer and robotic application systems. The engineer will also be responsible for identifying and resolving quality issues by conducting trials, analyzing results, and implementing solutions that enhance equipment efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of quality. This position requires the selected candidate to be able to work any shift and over-time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Operating and maintaining systems from the exit of Body Shop to shipment to General Assembly as well as any paint shop processes related to enabling shipment of the finished vehicle
  • Programming of manufacturing technology
  • Analyze product, process, and technology to craft best methods to paint & assemble vehicles, and protect people and the manufacturing process
  • Troubleshoot with operation and maintenance personnel on paint shop processes and specialized equipment
  • Recommend and validate improvement for existing processes with respect to sustainability, quality, and cost initiatives
  • Develop tools to improve program/project management
  • Assists in the design and building of production tools and equipment
  • Coordinate and manage machinery upgrade and/or installation projects
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to reduce energy and waste globally
  • Support implementation & execution of cybersecurity tools for manufacturing
