Key Responsibilities

  • Lead pilot-scale projects focused on developing new polymer-coated products, innovative coating technologies, and improvements to existing chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Develop new production methods to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical reports, and safety materials.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and communicate experimental data and project outcomes effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and work independently under the guidance of a group leader to design and execute product development programs.
  • Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting production issues and identifying process improvements.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with manufacturing equipment, process design, and operational functionality.
  • Utilize software tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word to plan experiments, manage data, and summarize results.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the pilot scale facility and full-scale plant operating procedures.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry preferred.
  • Other technical degrees will be considered, including mechanical engineering and physics.

Work Experience:

  • 1–5 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
  • Experience with polyurethanes is highly preferred.
  • Industrial experience in a chemical manufacturing or production environment is strongly preferred.
  • Backgrounds in polymer chemistry, plant operations, and data analysis are desirable.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage projects effectively.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on maximizing productivity and efficiency.
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance across a range of coating and materials applications.
  • Communicates clearly and regularly with management to develop experimental plans, present results, and recommend next steps.
  • Experienced in establishing, documenting, and maintaining standards for products, processes, and procedures.
  • Proactive in anticipating customer needs and delivering solutions that meet or exceed expectations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The use of a computer and phone – Must be able to see, type, write, finger, grasp, and sit; must be able to use a mobile phone.
  • Communicating with internal and external customers – must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
  • Mobility of arms – Must be able to reach and use arms to manipulate small objects.
  • Mobility inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machines, and supplies – must be able to move about the office space, stand for extended period of time, reach, bend, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Physically fit for work primarily in a pilot plant and manufacturing plant environment, which includes long periods of standing, moving, and carrying or lifting up to 30 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs
