Overview Responsible for process improvement and provides technical support for an assigned area of production operations. Qualifications EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPEIRENCE: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or Biochemical Engineering with a minimum of 0 to 5 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Ability to work independently with little to no direction and take initiative within scope of work responsibilities as well as collaborate effectively with a team. Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstratable technical proficiency and creativity. Strong organizational and time management skills. Commitment to establish policies and procedures while pursuing continuous improvement. An interest in data science and machine learning is highly valued. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment with frequent work in a production environment. Occasional work required outside. This position may perform activities in an environment that contains hazardous elements and requires safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines. Work must be performed in a safe manner for personal protection and for the protection of other team members. All safety procedures, procedures described in SOPs, BPRs, and support the compliance of applicable ISO standards in all functional areas must be followed, enforced, and strictly complied with. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires the ability to sit for a minimum of 6 hours per day; stand, walk, bend over and reach above head less than an hour a day; minimal lifting or carrying of 10 pounds occasionally and repetitive use of hands/arms for writing and computer work. Responsibilities PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Troubleshoot production process issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective action Analyze current production processes and identify potential improvements Lead a project team through the installation of a new process or equipment Complete validation requirements for any new system (IQ, OQ, and PQ) Provide in-process technical oversight which includes production support for day-to-day issues, long term needs, and start-up requirements Communicate throughout the organization with validation, QA, QC, supply chain, sales, etc. Collect and analyze production data and prepare a presentation to share at department meetings Write and review technical reports, batch production records, SOPs, work instructions, and deviations Design and execute lab scale experiments for process development and investigations Develop a deep understanding of unit operations, processes, and product flows Other duties as assigned The statements contained herein reflect general details as necessary to describe the principal functions for this job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required, and the scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.
