The Opportunity
We are offering a permanent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager, Process Engineering to join our Process Engineering team as part of our Cochlear Brisbane Operations Manufacturing division based in Newstead. In Brisbane Cochlear manufactures all external accessory components and implants PCAs. Under the Director Process Engineering, you will be responsible for delivering state of the art products to production, managing complex projects from concept to completion, and delivering successful project outcomes while ensuring high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safe, scalable, stable, and robust manufacturing processes for new and existing Cochlear products across the entire manufacturing network, collaborating with both internal (R&D, supply chain) and external (suppliers) teams.
  • Ensure all processes and related documents comply with Cochlear’s Quality Management System (QMS) and international regulations (e.g., Wl, PFMEA).
  • Lead process relocation/duplication projects to optimize the manufacturing network and meet strategic goals.
  • Champion the supply chain strategy by influencing project direction and reviewing PIP (Production Introduction Process) to improve compliance and launch success.
  • Manage projects to deliver on-time, on-budget outcomes that meet business needs.
  • Drive the introduction of new manufacturing technologies aligned with Cochlear’s long-term strategy.
  • Lead team development by setting strategic goals, allocating resources, and ensuring alignment with product and service plans.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a project and a broad knowledge of people, financial and operational aspects of project management are essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering quality products and services with the ability to identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment and technologies from a highly regulated industry are key for success in this role.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills will be key for success along with the ability to work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules, and instructions.
  • A strong Process Engineering background and experience from the Medical Devices or Pharmaceutical industry is highly advantageous.
